Important dates
- The national convention will be Sep. 3-6, 2012, in Charlotte, N.C.
- The primary election will be May 15, 2012
- The filing deadline to run for delegate will be May 17, 2012
Delegate selection
- Oregon Democrats will elect 84 delegates and five alternates
- 47 delegates will be elected at congressional district conventions on June 2, 2012
- Each CD will elect the following number of delegates:

*The 2nd District will be split into subdistricts, with three delegates elected from the southwestern portion of the district, and four delegates from the rest of the district.

23 delegates and five alternates will be elected at the state convention on June 16, 2012
- 15 delegates and five alternates will be elected at-large
- Eight delegates will be elected as Party Leader/Elected Official (PLEO) delegates
14 delegates are automatic, unpledged delegates. They include:
- Our Governor, our U.S. senators, and four members of the U.S. House
- Our seven elected and appointed members of the Democratic National Committee
Delegate representation
The delegation must be balanced by gender.
The DPO has established “representation goals” designed to make sure the delegation reflects Oregon’s Democratic electorate. Please see the plan

Filing
Delegate candidates and convention participants will file using an online form. There will be no paper forms. The DPO and county parties will provide assistance to those who need help with filing.
The filing forms and information about the district and state conventions will be posted on dpo.org by March 1, 2012.
