Councilor Arline LaMear
Arline LaMear has been the Librarian at the Columbia River Maritime Museum since 1997. Prior to that, she was a school librarian in Virginia for 21 years and served as State President of the school librarians’ association. She is also the author of a children’s book, “Lewis and Clark, the Astoria Cats.” Arline earned her bachelor’s degree from Occidental College and a masters from James Madison University.
Her volunteer experience in Astoria includes service on the Astoria Planning Commission and the Astoria Library Board, Clatsop County Commission on Children and Families, and as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). She also served as president of the Astoria chapters of both the American Association of University Women and the Women’s Political Caucus.
Arline and her husband, Cliff, have a blended family of five children and are raising their grandson, Bill.
