Councilor Greg Taylor

Upon graduating from high school in Fremont, CA in 1970, Greg enlisted in the Coast Guard. Little did he realize at the time that this would lead to a 28-year military career. Trained as an Electronics Technician, he worked through the ranks to become a Chief Petty Officer, and in 1980 was promoted to Chief Warrant Officer. After attending OCS in 1983, he received a full commission and eventually retired as a senior Lieutenant Commander. In addition to several US duty stations, he served overseas in South Vietnam, Thailand, and Japan, as well as brief assignments in South Korea, Yap Island, and Bahrain. He served four years in Alaska; one year as the Commanding Officer of a unit on the frontier border with the USSR during the Cold War.

An avid aviator, Greg earned his pilot license while serving in Tokyo, Japan. Currently, he is a licensed Commercial pilot with single and multi-engine instrument ratings. After logging considerable flight time in Japan and Alaska, Greg honed his flying skills as the Executive Director of an aerobatics flight school in Livermore, CA.

Greg moved to Klamath Falls in 2001. He served on the Klamath County Solid Waste Advisory Committee for nearly two years, and then as a Klamath Falls Planning Commissioner for four years. He was elected to the Klamath Falls City Council (Ward III) in November 2010.

In addition to his extensive Coast Guard, Navy, and Air Force training, Greg holds an Associate of Science in Electronics Engineering Technology from the Oregon Institute of Technology, a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, and both a Master of Science in Telecommunications Management and a Master of Business Administration from Golden Gate University. Currently, Greg teaches Computers and Information Systems, as well as Business Management courses at Klamath Community College.
