State Senator Laurie Monnes Anderson

Deputy Majority Leader Laurie Monnes Anderson was elected to the Oregon Senate in 2004 after serving 2 terms as a Representative for District 50. She currently represents Senate District 25, which encompasses the cities of Fairview, Gresham, Troutdale & Wood Village. She is a long-time resident of Gresham and attended Gresham High School.

Outside of the Legislature, she serves on many boards, including the Gresham Chamber of Commerce, Mount Hood Legacy Medical Center Foundation Board and the Human Solutions Board. She is a member of the Oregon League of Women Voters, the Gresham United Methodist Church, the Oregon Child Care Commission and Stand for Children.

She holds three degrees: a Bachelor in the Science of Nursing (BSN) from Radford University, a Master’s degree in Biology from the University of Colorado and a Bachelor’s in Biology from Willamette University.

Monnes Anderson is also the proud mother of two grown children. Beside her work as a state legislator, she is also a public health nurse and manager. When she is not working, Senator Monnes Anderson is an avid golfer.
