Councilor Paul Warr-King

Paul Warr-King was sworn into office as a Gresham City Councilor on January 4, 2005, and will serve in Council position #5 through the year 2012. He was elected by his fellow City Council members to serve as Council President in 2008.

Paul is a retired international, commercial banker and the father of three grown children and the grandfather of seven. He has lived in Gresham for the last 20 years.

Paul moved to Canada after a childhood in war-torn England. He began his career in Canada with the Royal Bank of Canada. In 1963 he moved to the United States and continued his banking work while studying international economics at UCLA. He eventually moved to Honolulu, Hawaii for an international banking position at First Hawaiian Bank. In this job he was privileged to work with individuals and businesses throughout the Pacific Rim. Before retirement his last career was with Key Bank where he focused on helping small and medium businesses grow.

Paul’s committee assignments as a Gresham City Councilor include the Gresham Sister City Association, Finance Committee, Regional Emergency Management Group, Columbia Cascade River District, East Metro Economic Alliance, Gresham Area prevention Partnership, Regional Economic Task Force, Columbia Corridor Association, Gresham Downtown Development Association, and Gresham Area Chamber of Commerce.

In 2009 he was instrumental in establishing a Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) for the City of Gresham. Fifteen high school students representing area high schools were chosen to serve on the YAC and serve as the primary communications link for youth to government, business, and the community on a variety of subjects and issues. The youth members strive to be examples for the youth of Gresham. Councilor Paul Warr-King serves as their Council Liaison.
