State Senator Peter Courtney

Senate President Peter Courtney is the most veteran member of the Oregon Legislature, serving in the legislature since 1981. In addition to his role in the Senate, he is an active community leader, having served on the boards of the Salem YMCA and United Way. He is an instructor at Western Oregon University where he is currently teaching classes on speech and leadership. Senator Courtney and his wife, Margie, live in Salem. They have three grown children, sons, Peter, Sean, and Adam.
